Program Overview

Mason Bee Hotel is an engaging, hands-on environmental education program that teaches participants the critical role of pollinators in food production and ecosystem health. This interactive workshop empowers students to create a sustainable habitat for mason bees, small but mighty pollinators that help fruits, vegetables, and flowers flourish. Participants will learn about the essential role of bees, habitat restoration, and simple ways to protect and increase pollinator populations in their own neighborhoods.

Program Objectives

Participants will:

๐Ÿ Build a Functional Mason Bee Hotel โ€“ Construct a home for native mason bees using sustainable materials, including cans, straws, cloth, ribbon, and string.

๐ŸŒฟ Discover the Role of Pollinators โ€“ Explore how pollinators contribute to our food systems and why they are essential to biodiversity.

๐Ÿก Create a Bee-Friendly Habitat โ€“ Learn how to attract and support mason bees in their local environment through plant selection and eco-conscious practices.

๐Ÿ“– Engage in a Pollinator Journal Activity โ€“ Reflect on pollinatorsโ€™ impact on nature, document observations, and brainstorm ways to promote conservation efforts in their community.

Logistics & Materials

All materials are included, such as sustainable building supplies for the Mason Bee Hotel, a take-home pollinator guide, and a reflection journal. The program can be conducted indoors or outdoors, depending on the venueโ€™s available space.
